13. Retention of personal information
CESD retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to:

- complete transactions, projects and requested services;
- maintain customer, subscription, Care Plan or support relationships;
- administer returns, warranties, disputes or legal claims;
- meet tax, accounting, employment, regulatory, insurance and recordkeeping requirements;
- prevent fraud and maintain security; and
- enforce agreements and legal rights.
Retention periods vary depending on:
- the type and sensitivity of the information;
- the reason it was collected;
- the length of the customer, employment, project or service relationship;
- legal and contractual requirements;
- security and fraud-prevention needs; and
- whether the information is connected to a dispute or claim.
When personal information is no longer reasonably required, CESD will securely delete, destroy or anonymize it, subject to legal, technical and operational limitations.
Information contained in backups may remain until those backups are securely overwritten or deleted through normal retention processes.
